ZL-1503 (IL13/IL31R)

Overview

ZL-1503 is a potential first-in-class treatment option for moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis (AD) and other IL-13 and IL-31-driven diseases. This bispecific antibody targets and antagonizes both IL-13 and IL-31R, which are key mediators in atopic diseases.

Scientists in Zai Lab’s in-house discovery engine generated ZL-1503 with the intention to simultaneously suppress both the IL-13-driven inflammatory pathways and the IL-31-driven pruritogenic (itch-causing) pathways. This dual targeting aims to provide both rapid itch relief and broad disease control through fast onset of action and robust efficacy.

ZL-1503 is currently being evaluated in a global Phase 1/1b clinical trial in healthy volunteers and participants with moderate to severe atopic dermatitis, exploring its safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and efficacy. Pre-clinical studies have demonstrated the potential of ZL-1503 to simultaneously suppress inflammatory and pruritogenic pathways implicated in AD.
